Thank You Seniors!!

I would like to thank all of the seniors for their dedication, commitment and support to the Esperanza Track program. We have been blessed with your presents and appreciate all of your efforts both on and off the track. Your achievements have been many and I am sure there would have been many more if it was not for the shortened season. It is my hope that you learned from the experience in a positive manner and will take what you learned into you daily lives to achieve more. The coaching staff is grateful to have had the time to work with you and hope you continue to represent our program with dignity and pride.

Sincerely,
Coach Medellin and the Track & Field Coaching Staff

Anthony Bustamante- Anthony ran his lifetime personal best of 5:11 in the 1600m this shortened season. The reason, all of the hard work Anthony has put in over the last few seasons. We congratulate Anthony for his personal success in track and wish him the best at Fullerton College next school year.

Jeff Duensing- Jeff was voted Athlete of the Year for the league and has several accomplishments. He was CIF Champion in 2018 and 2019 in both the Shot Put and Discus. He also was Masters Champion in the Shot Put in 2018 and 2019. He has been to the California State meet twice and placed in both the Shot Put and Discus. Jeff is one of the top throwers in the Nation and has carried on a long tradition of great throwers here at EHS coached by Coach Bill Pendleton.

Aaron Garcia- Aaron just joined our program in his senior year and only got to run two races this season. Aaron comes to us from the soccer team here at EHS.

Roshawn Lacy- Roshawn made a quick impact on our track program and had much success in just a short time. I was really looking forward to seeing what he could do in CIF as he was improving with each experience on the track. He had a tremendous season in football and was on his way to doing the same in track.

Walter Gooding- Walter has competed on the varsity level for 4 years. He has participated in at least 5 different events the 100m, 200m, long jump, high jump and triple jump. He set a new personal best in the long jump of 20’ 10” in this shorten season and tied his PR in the high jump. He was North Hills league champion last season in both the high jump and triple jump.

Seth Laske- Seth is a perfect example of the more work you put in, the more results you reap in athletics. He works to his full potential every single day and is not afraid to put in the miles to improve. He plans to attend Cal Poly Pomona in the Fall.

Ryan Manes- Ryan is part of a strong senior distance program that has worked incredibly hard to make a difference. He has a best time of 4:39 in the 1600m, which makes his one of the fastest 1600m runners in the league. We will miss Ryan and the strength he brings to our distance program.

Theo Sebuliba- Theo has been a big part of our sprinter group for the last 4 years. He has improved steadily each year and is of one the most dedicated athletes on the team. We all enjoyed watching him progress and improve his times. He is a favorite to his peers and coaching staff. We appreciate his leadership and commitment to the program.

Trevor Secoda- Trevor is a four year track athlete and band member. He is committed to both programs and does a very good job managing his time.
