Esperanza Aztecs

Track & Field

2011

Greetings Track & Field Parents,

It is my pleasure to welcome all of you to the 2011 Track & Field season. I am thoroughly excited about the upcoming season as it looks like it could be one of our recent best. We have several talented athletes and teams, which will be fun to watch and cheer on. Some of these athletes are among the best in the Century League, CIF Southern Section and the State. It is my hope that we will continue to produce elite track and field athletes at Esperanza High School this upcoming season and in the future.

It is one of my personal goals that each athlete achieves his or her personal best mark in this upcoming season. I am very happy to report that the athletes and coaches have been working hard in the off-season to achieve this goal. It is also one of my goals for each athlete to have a positive experience while competing for the Esperanza track and field team. My feelings are that if the coaches, parents and athletes are all working together we will be able to achieve these two goals. I only ask that you as parents be supportive of our track and field program, its objectives/goals and our track and field coaching staff. You can do this by encouraging your son or daughter to attend practice everyday. This will increase their chances of reaching their personal goals and the teamÕs goals. It is my belief that if your son or daughter consistently works to their full potential in practice daily then they will achieve their goals in competition.

This year the boosterÕs club fees will be $120 for a single athlete (and $180 if you have two athletes in the program) from each family to assist in maintaining our program and itÕs level of quality. These boosters fees could be used to purchase equipment, uniforms and to help pay for coaching stipends which the district does not support. Parents who pay the fees will be entitled to one Aztec Track and Field t-shirt for the athlete. Additional t-shirts and sweatshirts can be ordered by using the attached order form for other family members.

We will be having our first official booster club meeting on Thursday, February 17 at 7pm in room B-1 on the west campus. Topics of discussion will include our plans for the Orange County Track & Field Championships (we are co-sponsors for the meet with Mission Viejo HS), our home meets and the necessary volunteers needed, the top prospects on our track teams, and the Century League Finals to be held at Brea High School.

Information, results and pictures can be found at two websites, www.esperanzacrosscounty.com and www.aztectrack.homestead.com. Follow these two websites during the year for announcements and very important information, throughout the season.

If your son or daughter has not filled out the correct paperwork to be athletically cleared, the forms can be found at www.esperanzahs.com. Click on Athletes and then Athletes Forms (12 pages). After filling out the paperwork it must be returned to the school to Mrs. Martinez in the main office.

All athletes must also pay a $40 transportation fee, unless you as a parent fill-out the correct paperwork with the district office. This also applies if you plan to transport your son or daughter to and from a track meet or they plan to drive themselves to a track meet.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at rmedellin@pylusd.org or call me at 714-986-7540, ext. 13921.

Finally, I am looking forward to seeing all of you at our meets, at the boosters club meeting and at the Orange County Championships, your support of our program and your efforts are sincerely appreciated.

Thanks,

Coach Rich Medellin
